Toran- Kutch Embroidery Door Hanging, 19th century, India
Handmade Vintage Kutch Wall Hanging Toran
I travel a lot for my prints and textiles and often come across these beautiful piece of art and handicrafts. This one here is a small toran (torans are traditionally hung over the doors and windows for good luck) made by beautiful tribal ladies of Kutch. Kutch is a desert region in Gujarat and has a very rich heritage of textiles and embroidery.
I am sure this piece will bring colors and joys to any place.
I chose the items very cautiously. However, there will be some imperfections in the fabric, embroidery or weave, which only adds to the folk flavor of the product.
